Which sounds better Santhali or Santali ?

Santhali or Santali

Some will say that Santali is correct and some Santhali, however some will say that both are correct, whichever it may be lets investigate about which word should be used to represent one of the largest tribe of India.

In this post i will discuss about which is correct and why its correct to use santhali or santali
Lets first take a look at 92nd amendment bill

Take a look at here where we can see that a wikipedia link which gives a detail descriptions of the law. Which is the official announcement of the law which states in the following manner :-

SEE THE 92ND AMENDMENT BILL PASSED (in yellow text below, its written santhali)

"XCII
THE CONSTITUTION (NINETY-SECOND
AMENDMENT) ACT, 2003
An Act further to amend the Constitution of India.
[8th January, 2004]
BE it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-fourth
Year of the Republic of India as follows:—
1. This Act may be called the Constitution
(Ninety-second Amendment) Act, 2003.
2. In the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution,—
(a) existing entry 3 shall be re-numbered as
entry 5, and before entry 5 as so re-numbered,
the following entries shall be inserted,
namely:—
“3. Bodo.
4. Dogri.”;
(b) existing entries 4 to 7 shall respectively
be re-numbered as entries 6 to 9;
(c) existing entry 8 shall be re-numbered as
entry 11 and before entry 11 as so renumbered, the following entry shall be
inserted, namely:—
“10. Maithili.”;
(d) existing entries 9 to 14 shall respectively
be re-numbered as entries 12 to 17;
(e) existing entry 15 shall be re-numbered as
entry 19 and before entry 19 as so re
numbered, the following entry shall be
inserted, namely:—
“18. Santhali.”;
(f) existing entries 16 to 18 shall respectively
be re-numbered as entries 20 to 22."

Why to choose between them 

Actually it can create chose among people and their will be confusion, so to avoid it we can do one thing is that we can choose to say which word was first used as a santhal/santal at very beginning that made our identity of tribe. So in Lok sabha when this 92nd bill was passed with majority they had mentioned the word Santhali in thier amendment.

So which should i chose 

It depends upon you whether you chose it based on above evidence or just use the very first name which the santhali/santali people were called before the 92nd amendment bill passed. I have not found proof of the use of word santali before the bill was passed.

Conclusion 

From the above proof and reference i would say that Santhali should be more preffered over Santali.

Actually both are correct it differs from person to person whichever word to use.
